You should hire a food service person and here’s why.

I know it’s a bold claim and statement. But I do have solid foundation for this.

First of all, people in the food & beverage industry are people persons. They really know how to handle almost any type of customer and meet them on their level but with the customers wishes always in the foreground.

Upsale!! In the food service industry, there are few things more important than selling, if any. After all, selling is what pays our salaries. We want our company to do well, so we still have a job, at the end of the day. It’s an art to upsale but most of us (that cares) master it to some degree after a while.

Efficiancy. If there are ways to make the job more effective, they will be found. And used. Not at the expense of quality, though. This is always before our eyes. The quality of the work done will never be compromised because we want less workload. We just like to make our days as effective as possible.

Multitasking! To be good at your job in the industry, you need to be a high level multitasker. To be able to keep a bunch of orders in your head, juggle a list of ordered drinks and also keep the kitchen happy, you hone in on your multitasking, close to perfection.

Learning stuff. Quickly! We learn different orderingsystems, menus, drinklists, regulars, food sources, suppliers and more, more, more. And usually in a very short time, because it makes the job easier and faster.

Fast. We don’t go slow. We’re quick AF and it doesn’t take anything from the quality of our work.

Straightforward! We are the type of person who never beat around the bush. We say what we need to say, as straighforward as we possibly can. Why? Because it saves time. Time that we generally like to spend on and with our customers. Again, the customers are the ones paying our salaries.

Fun! We do like to have fun. During low times in between rushes, we laugh. A lot. The humour might be simple and crass at some points but it doesn’t take away that we love our laughing moments.

The food (and drinks). We know food. We know good food. We know how to get it, or (even better) make it! Most of us are some kind of foodie so we tend to have inside knowledge on who, where and why, when it comes to great food. Some of us are accomplished chefs, who are probably not against making some great food for a casual friday office meal. And don’t get me started on the snacks….

So.. there you have it. This is why you should hire someone from the food service industry.
