Have you ever come across that video…. The one EVERYone is talking about. Of course you have. And like many others you have thought to yourself ”what do they have that I don’t?”, haven’t you? Most content creators can only dream of going viral, and believe me, most do. Dream of it, I mean. And dream is all we can do. But we can try to optimize our chances with the content we put out there.
First of all, there is no perfect recipe to create viral content, but it is a big mix of things that have to ”click” for it to happen:
- The content must invoke emotions. It has to play on emotional strings and those strings need to be right there on the surface of feelings when the audience sees the content. If the content is filled with positive emotions and all fuzzy and nice it has a higher probability to go viral. The opposite is not impossible but a little bit more difficult, and, let’s face it, no one wants to be remembered for negativity.
- It needs to reach a lot of people, initially. And they need to think it’s good enough to share with their friends.
- It doesn’t hurt to have good looks (it’s a pretty shallow world, after all) but it really isn’t a must.
- It should hit a lot of the current SEO words.
- It’s difficult to go wrong with a cute pet.
This is, of course, not the complete list. There are an infinite number of factors that determine if something will go viral. Taking the above list into consideration, makes your post more likely to go viral, though.
