Software for your Linux Desktop and where to find it.

One of the good things in later Windows editions is the Microsoft store, which wasn’t a thing before Windows 8. Before Win8 you really needed to depend on your search engine game to find whatever you wanted to install on your desktop/laptop computer. Unless you are looking for particular software, that’s not the case anymore. Most of the software is there in their Store. Much like it has been in various Linux distros since long before Windows 8 came out.

Depending on what Linux distro you use, be sure there is a software center where you can find almost everything you need when it comes to software you use on a daily basis. Most flavors of Linux come packed with pre-installed software that a lot of people use in some way. We’re talking Office apps, software for listening to music or watching TV, web browsers, pdf-readers, and so forth.

Most software can be found in the software center of the distro you are using but sometimes it’s a more specialized kind of software, that you want or need that just isn’t there in the software center. But have faith, it is out there. GitHub is a really good place to find a lot of obscure software for Linux, and so is linux-apps.com. Between these two and the software center, you are bound to have most of your software needs covered. But if you don’t, google can always provide you with very specific answers.
